I get it from KEH and I sent it back to them.
That was a good move. I bought a Nikon from KEH that had a sticky cover. I managed to remove it with alky-hall and a rag. Several wipes and it was accomplished.
Store the camera outside the camera bag for the next few months. Then the odor will slowly disappear.

6 months ago I bought a used Nikon body which was in excellent condition, via eBay. All in all I am very happy.
The camera has an odor which could be cologne. Or cigar smoke. It is faint but my sense of smell is exceptionally sensitive.
Anyone have some good suggestions?
I have washed with detergent and a rag. I have used vinegar. I have used 70% EtOH. I have left it in the sun to gently encourage outgassing. My next effort will be to use a reasonably strong application of O3. It is very effective with smoke and tends to eliminate hand lotion odors which annoy me.
Thanks for any ideas.

You need to understand that the odor causing molecules you are smelling permeate the camera. They're inside as well as out there's no way to eliminate them. the best you can do is mask them with a more pleasing odor. I use an orange scented cleaning agent with a lingering smell that I assume is pleasing to everyone. It's effective on musky odors and mildew and doesn't smell like Lysol. I'm a camera technician and get a lot of cameras in with unpleasant odors I need to deal with and this is th best solution I have been able to come up with.
Cameras, cars, computers.
DON'T spray the thing!
You open that device and spray into it ... you'll be an interesting topic for a while.
A slight touch of vodka on a Q-tip will help- but not on the sensor nor mirror.
You might want to try using some Nature's Miracle if you suspect the odor to be organic, but please be prepared to leave it in a baggie for at least a week (or longer). If that fails, then try wrapping it in newspaper for a while.
