One of the larger camera store chains in the U.S. headquartered in Cleveland Ohio,
temporarily closed its doors like many other businesses. It has branches around Cleveland and in Columbus, Dayton and Chicago. They are slowly opening up. The main store and one near Akron and a store in a far west
suburb have reopened. Today I received an email that they are closing their Mentor Ohio location. Of course it is only three miles from where I live. The closest store for me now is the downtown main store about 20 miles away. Go figure. I know from other Hogger posts on the same subject that many of you have it a lot worse than I do. Thank you for letting me vent on this topic. May all of you folks be safe and well.

The closest brick and mortar store to me is 200+ miles away.... B&H, Adorama,Keh, Roberts Camera, are all as close as my keyboard. It would be nice to spend my money locally, but that is not in the cards.

I love driving 70 miles to my closest store. Stop being a cry baby and put on some big boy pants.

Dodd Camera in Fairlawn, Ohio, is open to the public - 2855 West Market Street, Fairlawn, Ohio 44333 - telephone 330-873-1700. Very nice shop with plenty of new and used cameras, parts and accessories. Very knowledgeable staff. Just bought a used Nikon D90 body and hoping to take a look at the Canon EOS M200 on Wednesday.

Is that Los Angeles, Louisiana or Lower Alabama?

Thanks (by leftists) to the political and media hysteria.

Don't make this a political argument. Leftists (whatever they are) have nothing to do with it. Since no one knows what WILL happen, we are listening to scientists who are telling us what CAN happen. They know a whole lot more than leftists or rightists.

I have purchased numerous cameras and lens at the Dodd Camera in Cincinnati which is an excellent store. I go there when visiting family. As I live on the Big Island in Hawaii the nearest camera store to me is a 1 hour flight away in Honolulu.

I didn’t know Dury’s had closed. That is Sad. Was a mainstay in Nashville for many, many years

I live in Annapolis MD area. Closest to me is Baltimore (1 hr drive) or Ace Camera in Fairfax VA (90 min drive).
I would consider myself lucky at 20 miles.

Ace is great, although it’s actually Ashburn which is farther from you than Fairfax. District Camera in Burke, VA is also a great shop.

I read yesterday that Drury's Camera in Nashville is permanently closing. I will have to look up where the nearest camera store to Nashville is, since that was the only one in town.

In Reno, NV. The long standing Robert's closed its door when the owner couldn't sell the business when he reached retirement ae. GOOD NEWS is Action Camera from Savramentto CA. and at least one otehr branch in Roseville CA--just a bit East on I-80, opened a really nice store in Reno, just around the corner. They staffed the storre with some former Robert's employees and we've got a good Pro Shop in town--hopefully for a while. This is the only sory I've heard like this. But if you smoehow prove you're willing, or can make a retailer see a market, perhaps you'll see this outcome near you.

My suspicion is that Robert, of Robert's didn't like Action's offer, because they opened in Reno about 6 months before Roberts announced their closing. Another tit bit negotiating clue. Don't outright reject an offer when you've already announced your intentions. Robert sure missed the boat, I think. But unless you're in the room, you ever know how a deal really goes--or doesn't.
