Saving in Photoshop CS6

I've edited images in Adobe Camera Raw and saved them as DNG files. Then I opened them in PS6 and did some more editing. When I save them, they are saving as PSD files, much larger than the DNG.

What's the best way to save these files that come from raw into ACR into PS6? Does it matter? They'll be going onto a CD/DVD eventually.

By saving in Psd it keeps all your edits, layers etc. intact , so you can go back and re edit them. Ernie

Ah, I see. So if I flatten before saving, the file will be smaller, but I won't be able to go back and undo layers.

once you flatten and close the image the layers are gone. i usually save my psd with the layer and then flatten and make a jpeg. that way you have a smaller image to send out and still have the original with the layers.

Too many choices! I'll have to see how many I have when I'm done processing. Then I'll decide what format to use for putting them onto a CD/DVD.
