Both good, but #2 is IMHO, the better photograph.

Thanks for letting me know opinion. Always appreciated. I also think #2 is the winner out of the two of them.

Neither ... the scene looks like a different approach might give me mood or place or both, but to me this approach just says “geometry exercise”.

Thanks for your thoughts. Never figured anyone would call either one a “geometric exercise.” 😀 But everyone has their own interpretation on an image viewed.

I can't count how many times I've stood in exactly the same spot you are in (picture 2), trying to figure out a way to capture that damned pier! Sometimes it works and sometimes it just doesn't. I like the angle you chose. It brings us right to that boat. I have a sneaking suspicion, though, that this is one of your composites. I know that the jetty in (1) is a good way to the left of that pier. Could that boat have drifted in exactly that direction? Not sure. If it is a composite, it is pretty convincing.

Erich, you’re right they are both composites. It seems I have become a composite junkie of late.
BTW the boat is from Lake Parrisspany. I have a feeling it never has in any saltwater. When I took the shot of the boat it was with the idea of some day using it in a composite. So it was added to my library.

You are getting much better. This one I had to really look at to see if I could find clues. The mooring buoy was the give away. Precious few of them out in the ocean. LOL
