Sony a7riii has been reduced from $3200 to $2800 with free items on B&H. Great camera, 42 megapixels, 10 frames per second. Full frame.

Nope! I haven't seen price drop especially on the high end due to the pandemic. In fact the high end sales is much less affected by the pandemic. If anything there could be increased sales in this market.

Normally there is a sale around Memorial Day but so far nothing but keep watching - something may come up within the next week or so.

So, you are saying you want to take advantage of a struggling company during a pandemic?

I think the situation here now is that the manufacturers have been shutdown so long and the inventory levels are low. I’ve watched the computer components dwindle to almost nothing in the last two months. Not much sense in having a sale if you can’t deliver.

In photography you might discover who you are, and with a little luck, you might discover yourself shooting with a full-frame camera.

I wonder if the virus has slowed camera sales very much. In-store sales are definitely off, but most sales are probably online, anyway. I bought only one camera in a store (D90) because it wasn't available online.

With all the companies shutting down, the market drop off and the concern associated with duration until things get back to normal I would guess that the number of people ready to purchase new gear had gone down big time!

The difference is that this is not an economic base slow down but a forced slow down of a hyper strong economy. Once the shut down is removed things will pick-up back to full steam and if you sold your stuff at a loss you would be screwing yourself having to then re-buy your equipment.
Unless you were ready to upgrade to something newer anyway and are using this as an opportunity to switch over.

You're kidding yourself if you think things are going to quickly pick up to full steam. Over 40,000,000 people are out of work and many companies have closed their doors forever.
