A local Palm Nursery found two Barn Owl chicks at the base of one of their Queen Palms and turned them over to a wildlife center nearby in Ojai, CA. When they were old enough to release the Nursery had a box put up on the property near where they were found. These are pics of the release, hoping the box would entice them to stay in the area. It's been a year now and they are still there and healthy. Keeping the rodent population down!
p.18 What an assortment...are those insects/flies n the gull and mud?
Yes, Pat. Alkali flies and brine shrimp flourish in the lake and thousands of birds use it as a stopover and resupply depot during migration. The California Gull breeds there on islands in the lake away from predators.
What a wonderful group of photos, all! Thanks Kat! I had a great time reviewing some of my own pictures as well as the rest of the country and abroad represented here. Good night for now........
