Yet another article predicting the end of an era.

It’s only a matter of time. In the meantime there will be some great DSLR gear deals for bargain shoppers.

It is not the camera, but who is behind it. Fancy gear does not make a good photograph.

That is what they said as DSLRs replaced range finder cameras with a separate range finder.

I suppose that mirrorless will eventually supplant the current DSLRs but certainly not right away. I have only had my D-850 since they came out and I am still learning how to use it fully. At my age (78) other than enjoying perhaps a lighter camera to carry around, I see no meaningful advantage to shift at this point. I am confident that all of my photographic needs will be met very satisfactorily with the DSLR. Were I perhaps 60, I might very well consider beginning the transition which involves a lot of long term expense. Not now.

This looks like what will push the demise of the DSLR.
Finally the EVF that keeps up like the OVF.

Not so long ago an article like that would have been met with howls of denial and 'cold dead hands' indignation here on UHH. The protests seem to have died down ever since Nixon and Canon surrendered to progress with their mirrorless offerings.

What difference does it make?! Just because technology evolves doesn't mean the previous gen will suddenly stop working. My Canon 5DSr and 5D IV are just as capable of recording excellent photos as any MILC and probably better than many. Just more ridiculous doom and gloom.

I would say that DSLRs are on the demise. But, not yet obsolete. Nikon released not long ago, its latest D780, and the D6 is upcoming. Canon has its new pro level 1DX Mark 3 DSLR. The Coronavirus has had a negative effect on all camera Brand sales. With photographers having other essential things to take care of. Especially, with many being unemployed. Mirrorless will be the Future. I doubt that Nikon will have any new upgraded DSLRs, after 2020. Already, Nikon is expecting a new full frame Z8 mirrorless, and an upgraded mirrorless crop sensor camera to the Nikon Z50. Canon, is also launching new mirrorless cameras. Faster, than what I expected. And Canon owners seem are welcoming the new mirrorless cameras.

As the advantages of OVF over EVF are rapidly disappearing, and the advantages of EVF over OVF are fast increasing, manufacturers will have no choice but to drop further development which includes mirrors and prisms.
