Thanks Linda, I appreciate your good eye here. You have identified most of the key elements I was trying to work with. I was also attracted to a difference in scale and distance. The beach is very, very far below the foreground and POV.
This is a photo I made 6 years ago and I have used it as wall paper on my monitor. I have spent a lot of time looking and enjoying it because it is a favorite place and pleasantly familiar to me. However, I posted it for a very different reason. I looked at it last week and realized my perceptions had changed. In the context of this pandemic, the image was suddenly reduced to two elements for me; standing on the edge of a cliff looking out at an unclear horizon.../thus the title! I don't want that to sound morbid, I don't feel that way but I was struck by the change in my own perceptions. These are the times we live in.
