Lightroom cc seems to have integrated synch and publishing abilities I have not found elsewhere. I use it with Claddic and it uses the lR cloud tp synch and also Govea you access from any internet computer. It’s ediring is not ad developed LRClasic, but I keep all my photos library ona drive accessible by both. It’s possible to share the same care ligue but May cause issues per lightroom. Reabre CC is an evolving proving, classic isa mature program and there Inter connectivity will work in the future, i think uyou could use Dropbox and Bridge for the some similar type of access but that is a tricky path.

What is going on with me right now. A few years ago I purchased Lightroom 6 and never had the time to learn what I needed. I like the program very much for inventory purposes and that was what 95% of what I was doing with it.
I have been taking photographs since 1971 but I always left the grunt work to a third party now I want to do it myself.
Retired back in October and now I want to dedicate more of my time to photography and possible make it a business out of it to generate income to support this vice. :).
A part of the story which I did not put out last time was my laptop is approximate 8 years old so I want to get better computer with the programs that I will need to use it with.

So I guess what I am now asking is what type of computer you would recommend and the programs to go with it.

I use LR6 on Windows 10 equipment. Apple has been updating their operating systems so older programs do not operate on the new OS. People can argue 'why' for this change, but performance and security are two 'public' reasons. Windows is the far wider used OS and maintains support for older software, although not everything 'old'.

If you want to use your old LR6 software, Win10 is your best option.
