What are you people doing about shopping? I went about a week ago, and it was unnerving. Everyone had masks, and people were skittish about being near other people. As more and more people get infected, the chances of coming across an infected person increase. We have 2,566 infections in the county, and 80 in the town where I shop. I'm down to eating dry cereal for breakfast.

We have a lot of food in the house, but some of it will need replacing. Stores have fewer and fewer employees, so there's more waiting to get the order checked out. We don't have any order-and-deliver stores around here.

I order online from a Kroger-owned chain; they deliver to my car. It generally takes two to three days, but there’s no hassle or danger of going into the store, and the first three trips are free. After that there’s a minimal charge, but it will probably be worth it. I still have two free trips left.

I feel for you, Jerry! I haven’t seen the inside of a store since I went for corned beef just before St. Patrick’s Day. We have a freezer full of food so just running out of milk, cream, etc. (but still manage to spend $150 - $200 on each grocery order 😩) It’s really different because I’m a run to the grocery store every day kinda girl (which explains the freezer full.)
I just realized the other day that this will be the first Easter in 50 years that I haven’t shopped for Easter baskets and big family dinner.
Hopefully this will soon be over. I miss the kids, miss the store and my backyard birds are about to go on strike!

Take the precautions that public health officials urge. I'd add to minimize the duration of your shopping excursion in order to reduce your number of contacts with others. If old enough, you may qualify to shop at a time set aside for older folk.

In my county, the authorities have ordered stores not to allow shoppers inside when not wearing a face mask.

The bigger picture, if kept in mind, should govern the individual outlook by this context. The Chinese virus needs humans to complete its life cycle. It cannot replicate itself. It must infect humans to continue its existence.

Hence, keeping a distance from others and wearing a face mask, along with other precautions, limit the opportunities for the virus to spread itself.

Jerry. Are keeping a list and trying to only go every two weeks. Our grocery store are only letting in a limited number of customers at a time. They have the entrance side walk marked off at 2 metre lengths. Then when you get your shopping cart, staff wipe it down with sanitizer. Once in the store the aisles are one way and when you go to checkout the lines are marked as well. You cannot place you stuff on the belt until the person in front of you has packed and left the area. Store is giving plastic bags, no Longer charging for them. Can only pay with a card. No cash. So quite an ordeal but keeping as safe as they can. Happy Easter all.

My wife has spent hours on the computer trying to get a delivery window, finding stuff still in stock. She was up at 2:30AM ordering toilet paper from BJs, but by the time she was checking out, it was gone. We're getting pork chops, dairy, eggs and orange juice plus humus from an organic farm that delivers, but they just ran out of chicken legs. She used Shipt to pick up stuff from a local supermarket. We have signed up for boxed vegetables and fruits from a local organic farm which will start at the end of May. We have driven down to a local orchard where they've put a box of fruit and vegetables in our car without any face to face contact. We are lucky that we live in an area where this is possible. We have also planted cabbage, kale, and lettuce and when it gets warmer we'll plant tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. I still need to go to the gas station to fill a 5 gallon can for my lawn mower and I will arrange for a local nursery to put a bag of peat moss in my car to use on my blueberry bushes. I'm glad I moved out of NYC at the age of 30, out of a walkup on the then depressing Upper West Side, to live on 9 acres in my own house.

I have always ordered a lit of things on-line. I am able to use the commissary on base and there is 100% compliance and people do social distance. At civilian grocery stores like Kroger, it is about 10% compliance and they do not even require their employees to comply.

We have not stayed in and not gone anywhere. Many of our state and local parks are open to walk as long as you mask up and practice social distancing.

I even took a walk to the center of our town and took some pictures with no one on the street. Someday those will be an interesting story for my grandkids.

I ordered on line from Kroger, they said pickup between 3and4pm Sat. Which was a week. They had my credit card number and total. Got there at 3pm store was completely full of people. Finally found a place to park, called inside. They said they didn’t have a record of my order. Whole week shot. Thanks Kroger.😷👎

Next time, print out a copy of your received order or other order confirmation. Paper documentation still proves necessary at times.
I've noticed that computer systems have become swamped from the reaction to the Chinese virus. Web-sites malfunction.

WE go about once a week, it's not too bad, what is available varies, we try to keep enough for 2 weeks available just in case we really cannot get out, wearing masks in stores, staying far apart, cabin fever is getting bad, I've been taking pictures of the sly for possible backgrounds, took some fading cherry blossoms yesterday, haven't offloaded them yet, boredom, I think it's the restriction not the inactivity of it all.

Our local Hannaford used to have Hannaford To Go. Place the order online, and they bring it to the car. That's been suspended. I suspect they are running out of employees.

I made corned beef and cabbage a few days ago, and it was awful! It was great on St. Patty's Day, but this one was mostly fat - unchewable. I have another one in the freezer, but that's probably just as bad. At least the dogs like it. : )

One thing I found interesting is the sameness of each day. I no longer ask my son when he goes to work tomorrow. He's out on leave. One bright spot is all the online ukulele activities available every week. The computer and the TV keep me entertained.
