I got RRS plates for my first two cameras and 1 for the 100-400 lens. For the newest camera I bought, I just went with a Chinese knock-off - works just as well for a fraction of the price. It's like buying a knock off tripod versus a RRS or Gitzo. Your money, your choice.
Can you tell me where you purchased it from!
Consider a Kirk L-Plate for your D750 as a medium price between RRS and the cheapest option. The L-plates are custom designed to the unique size and locations of access points for each model, probably something not 'designed' into the cheapest models.

I just checked out this Kirk L-Plate at Adorama it is only 5.00 cheaper (135.00 than the RRS-(140.00)!I really don’t want to spend that much after what I spent on RRS ball head.I guess I will continue to look for something cheaper!

You went with the best ball head money can buy. Why not pair with the best camera mount option? You attach the L-plate to the body and leave it there always, never having to consider how / whether to use your tripod.

I can't speak to any misinformation you've used. As you've discovered already, you need some form of 'plate' to attach into the clamp on the ball head. That can be a plate on the bottom of the camera, allowing an initial landscape connection to the BH, with possible repositioning of the BH to enable a vertical orientation. Or, a plate on the lens, assuming the lens has a tripod collar and that is the lens appropriate for your need. Finally, an L-plate allows the camera to be mounted either landscape or portrait,
over the center of gravity of the tripod via the BH. The L-plate is the best option, mentioned repeatedly in the 70 responses to your prior UHH post.

The L bracket by itself, can only provide balance over the center of gravity on ONE axis - there is another axis to contend with ! - which is the reason for my second bracket recommendation above. As I mentioned, a L bracket is NICE to have - but not imperative.
In any case, a RRS BH55 ball head will be among the least sensitive heads to an imbalance situation - which is one of the best reasons for spending the BIG bucks to get one in the first place !
.
Look on EBay for genuine RRS brackets and plates. With a little patience you can like they a great deal on a used one. I have bought a lot of my RRS gear off eBay. I have the 2 piece RRS L bracket on my camera body virtually all the time. If I want to remove it or half of it it takes a few seconds and the wrench stores in the bracket itself.

Was I wrong to assume this very expensive ball head came with a quick release plate? All my other less expensive ball heads came with release plates.I sent an email to Adorama asking if they forgot to send it.They are checking on it.What do u think,I will have to spend more money on the release plate, yeah so do I.
If you go to RRS'S web page, you can see how ordering is broken down....you need to select the options you need/want. Don't know why Adorama would be any different. Why the Price range is $300+-$600+
https://www.reallyrightstuff.com/bh55-ball-headBTW, why I order right from RRS.
