A mixed bag of shots. Some will like, some will not. Feel free to comment. I took the shot of Pigeon Pointe Lighthouse with my tripod in the ocean. The Last shot is one of my favorite Black and Whites.

Some very good work Richard. The B&W of the lighthouse is my favorite. You might want to check the "Store Original" box when posting images. It gives us a much better view.

The little box to the left of "Add Attachment".

Oops, Paul beat me to it.

Nice shots by the way.

Thanks. Never paid any attention as to what that was. Answer me this: Why is it important to add that to posts?

It lets people view a larger image (provided it is large to begin with) and zoom in on different areas.
Pixel peepers love it.

But the forum requests that it only be used when necessary as a larger image does take up more space on the server.

You'll see the word (link) "Download" under the image if the image is large enough to create a downloadable version.

Do you use it? If I use it can my photo be downloaded by UHH members? If so, I’m not sure if I want to allow my photos to be downloaded.

If there is a large (wide) scenic and a large original image was stored by a poster I might zoom in on certain areas.
I myself try to abide by the request and usually do not upload huge files unless necessary, like for evaluation purposes. But I was using it when first I started here.

What you posted is fine for me, but I don't count.

(I'm NOT a pixel peeper by the way.)

Consider this series of posts as demonstration:

1. https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-636009-1.html <- this image has a small file added as an attachment. I'm not criticizing the post, just using it as a demonstration example.

2. https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-635890-1.html <- Launch any of the attachments here (such as the first water buffalo). Note how the image fills / nearly fills your computer display. You don't have to 'download' the file. Rather, just right-click the 'download' link below the image and open the file in a new browser tab.

3. https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-635887-1.html <- this post demonstrates 'embedded links' from another site, Flickr in this example.

When sharing images, the individual UHH member is free to use any of these approaches, including #4, using only embedded thumbnails that this site limits to 600-pixels wide. For vertical / portrait, there seems to be no pixel size limit vertically.

You might find this post interesting / useful if you decide to begin attaching image files: Recommended resizing parameters for digital images

Richard, 1947 was a fine years as I recall, and any photo you post here can be downloaded, here is an example for you. When you put anything out into the public domain it's up for grabs by anyone. Welcome to the UHH and I have enjoyed your previously posted colorful photos. Best, chase

Richard .., I’ve been recommending that you do the download format since day one .., never got zip of a response .., it’s up to you .., but I C Others are now brining it up ..., actually it’s a compliment .., if your shots were not very good .., no one would care .. care ...

There are so many really good photographers on this sight that it doesn’t bother at all ..., so you shouldn’t be too concerned until you reach that level .., or ...you are selling your work Etc .., as I do and thus I only post not intended to be sold work even in regular let alone download ..
