I was trying to post a set that would show what it looked like with the buffalo coming out of the bush, crossing the road and exiting stage left back into the bush. And taking half an hour to complete the process. I don't think this set does that exactly. But it's as close as I could get without getting closer to the line of travel. Our great and protective guide, Gilbert, would probably have objected strongly if I had attempted to do that. Frank, on the other hand would have said "wait, let me get my camera set up for this". Anyway, I hope you enjoy one of the great spectacles of Africa.

I understand that these are among the crankiest critters on the planet, and will cheerfully stomp you into the dust and mix in enough dirt to start a formal rose garden. … they do look way cool … nice photos!

We were in Kenya about a four hour drive north of Nairobi.. I would like very much to see South Africa if/when I make it back to Africa. I'm glad you liked the photos.

Thanks very much. Yeah, I've read books on hunting in Africa since I was a boy. They all had horror stories of Cape Buffalo. And they do look way cool! And they sound way cool. But they smell way bad!

I love the second shot Chief. Is that a female with her calf? I have heard that they are the most dangerous to encounter in Africa. Still, what a magnificent beast. Your heart must have been racing.
