My first photo in the local newspaper was of a small figurine of the "Purple People Eater" which was one of those songs. I still know the words to the song by heart. Wish I still had the figurine, probably be worth money today.

I listen to the oldies station, and occasionally I hear one of those old "composite songs."...
I also love the old stuff. These are not exactly 'composite' but similar 'Parody Songs' from the same time period.

The Four Preps - More Money For You And Me (1961)

THE CADETS - ''STRANDED IN THE JUNGLE'' (1956)

Jerry, I too grew up listening to those songs. You should tune into Sirius XM, 50's on 5. They play that record as well as all 50's music on that channel. Sirius breaks down the music in eras, 50's, 60's, etc. I'm still of fan of the "oldies" and that is what I listen to almost exclusively. Still fun to hear once in a while. Thanks for sharing.

Yes! That's where it's set (in my car) - "50s on 5." In the house, I have an Internet radio playing Pandora with songs from the 50s and 60s.

Weird Al Yankovic is good with those parodies.

You like Weird Al? His earlier albums and parody songs are great.

Not so much a parody but often a tribute, is the band Dread Zeppelin. They do Led Zeppelin songs in a Reggae Style with a singer that sounds like Elvis Presley. They are from So. Cal., some members from the Arcadia / Monrovia area.
