I can't speak for people in my daughter's age group. To date, I have not seen my nephews, nieces or three of my four children with a DSLR. One has a DSLR. But people in my age group mid to late seventies have used a camera or two before. Now cell phones are the weapon of choice for taking pictures of grandchildren and travel. Cell phone has replaced lugging a camera around.
