Hi, I am not well versed on computer techniques. I am/was very comfortable with Windows 7 photo. Hate windows 10. Is there a better option? I do have Google photos. Don't use it much and for me it hasn't been easy to have all the photos in just one place. I am trying to keep photos in folders by subjects..

Have you looked for an old version of Picasa?

I agree. Picasa is still the one.

BTW, why do you "hate Windows-10?"

W 10 photo doesn’t allow folders in a format I like.
Way too many clicks to accomplish activities
Not intuitive at all.
Too large and cumbersome
Can’t modify, edit, make notes, access, look up items, download pictures easily, download anything easily.
7 is still better. The improvements aren’t worth the losses.

I haven't liked the way windows looked and acted since 8.0/8.1 but wanted the improvements etc. I found a program that makes it look and act like the old windows with the start button etc. Classic Shell - it was a one man show and new development was discontinued by the developer in 2017 but it is still available, and some people have put out their own versions of it. I kept mine up to date and am still using it with the latest version of Windows 10. But may need to switch to one of the newer ones still being developed as after the last round of Win 10 updates some programs are a bit slow to load or change pages while others are still zipping along.

Here is a download site of the last version (from 2017) that was just put up in Dec 2019: https://www.filehorse.com/download-classic-shell/

Alternatives to Classic Shell: https://alternativeto.net/software/classicshell/

There are other alternatives, just google "alternatives to classic shell".

You can set up your folders just like you could in Win7.
It's not intuitive because it is unfamiliar - this goes away after awhile.
It's smaller on your drive than Win7
You have all the tools you had in Win7 to modify, edit, make notes, access, look up stuff, download pictures and etc (copy/paste, drag/drop, etc)
Win 10, at least the Pro version, is more secure.
You can use it EXACTLY the way you use Win7.

I have and use both and don't understand your objection other than having a problem with change in general.

I found Win 10 to be absolutely NO problem. I am in no way a computer nerd either.
Just converted all office computers to Win 10 and no problems with folders or workflow from any one either.
Give it a try for 1/2 hour and it will become easy to use.

I have said it before, no one should be forced to accept updates to their system by the software company. Read the terms of use for Windows (no one does) and you will see that you don't own that software, they are just letting you use it. AS LONG AS YOU LET THEM TELL HOW YOU CAN USE IT! Linux lets you use the software how you choose, even so far as being able to modify it to your specific needs if you have the skills to do so. I still cannot understand why anyone would let a software company take over their digital lives in this way.

When Microsoft tried to force me into using Win10, I switched to Linux. I don’t know how Win10 works, but the Ubuntu version of Linux was easy to learn for me.

Very well stated! Multiple thumbs up!
Also, someone pointed out that you could get a program to bring back the start button - the button has been back for years at this point, without using the external program.

Try Google Chrome, it works just like the older versions of Windows, been using it for a long time and been happy with it.
