I was very interested in your post ("rumor") about Sony releasing a new RX 100 VIII with flash mount and wider lens. Any link to the rumor? Thinking of buying the Mark VII but the new features attract me. Thanks for the info.
Mark

Hey Mark since the RX100M7 was released in August 2019 I doubt the rumor is true Right? They haven’t changed the lens in the last 2 versions that I’m aware of. Not sure if it’s possible to increase the wide end of the lens. They did include a brand new sensor and processor for this rig! Tracks like the a9 and even has animal eye focus now. Blows my M2 away!

My first digitals were Sony cameras, the DSC versions. The only thing that made them great was Zeiss glass.

Bob,
My first was a Sony F 707. It was terrific. I love the RX10 IV. I’ve stopped using my Canon 5D MIII & 7D MII

I currently own the Sony RX100 II, because it is the only RX model that has a hot shoe that I can attach my professional Sony flash to and turn the flash head up and behind me for great indoor flash shots.
With that said my personal all time choice in Sony pocket camera's is the HX99, it can shoot RAW, has a Zeiss 24-750 mm lens, pop up viewfinder, 6 stop HDR, rear curtain flash for those nice night shots.
OH, below is a shot using the rear curtain flash at a Chinese Lantern Festival of my wife and I, the second shot is a shot from our Rhine River Trip. I believe it is the best travel camera on the market today. Bar none. The third shot is a panoramic shot of the Bohemian town of Cesky Krumlov, and the forth shot is a photo of the belt pouch I put the camera in so I am hands free.

I totally agree with your choice of travel camera. Sony HX99v. Beautiful color really sharp images. In my mind it is the one camera that has it all
