I have the original and always tempted to buy the newest one. What do you like best in the newest M7?

Congratulations. I have had RX100's including the first one. I now have the M4.
The 4 has 4K the lens 24-70 which makes more sense to me then 200. It's
images and video are great.
I have tried to keep up with the versions and why Sony created them.
I have a Sony a7S Mark 2-RX-10 III the original with the 600mm lens etc.
If they are trying to create an RX100 that rivals their big cameras wonder why.

Please tell us know are soon what your really like about your new camera. Good luck.

I currently own the Sony RX100 II, because it is the only RX model that has a hot shoe that I can attach my professional Sony flash to and turn the flash head up and behind me for great indoor flash shots.
With that said my personal all time choice in Sony pocket camera's is the HX99, it can shoot RAW, has a Zeiss 24-750 mm lens, pop up viewfinder, 6 stop HDR, rear curtain flash for those nice night shots.
OH, below is a shot using the rear curtain flash at a Chinese Lantern Festival of my wife and I, the second shot is a shot from our Rhine River Trip. I believe it is the best travel camera on the market today. Bar none. The third shot is a panoramic shot of the Bohemian town of Cesky Krumlov, and the forth shot is a photo of the belt pouch I put the camera in so I am hands free.

These are really great shots! It goes to show that sensor size isn't the only deciding factor in the end result. I recently acquired a used Sony HX50, an early "parent" of your HX99, and am really liking having the zoom capability in a camera that I can toss into an outdoor jacket pocket.

I'm also wondering where you got the nice belt pouch. It is different from the one that Sony sells for this camera.

Sony Rumors....The new (when/if announced & hopefully soon) Sony RX100 is rumored to feature a new wider 20-200mm wide angle lens....plus;

Sony will announce a new RX100 before the Olympic games.
The sensor stays the same 20MP sensor
The major upgrade is in the Lens. It will feature a new 10x zoom lens of 7.4-75mm
Other minor improvements include:
The external connections will be unified to USB C
The internal flash is replaced by a hot shoe
Revised controls with one additional button

Was going to purchase a RX100 VII but I'll wait a month or so and see if any of these rumors come to light...Cheers

I chose the Panasonic TZ100 because the price had dropped when the TZ200 came out, but also because the reach was longer.

Now Cannon has one also. These cameras are mind-boggling, yes, boggling... so many abilities it is hard to believe. They are Swiss Army Knives, each tool works well and as was pointed out, they are so small as to be handy 24/7. Add the filter addon and the Tools are even more amazing. added filters. added lenses.. wow! My DSLR gathers dust... the one-inch sensor has excellent quality and if there is a problem [for pixel pickers] then software will cure it.

For those wondering where the pouch/case came from for that HX99, it sure looks like the case I had for one of my old nikon pocket zoom cameras, maybe the 8000, a camera that can zoom to about 10X. That’s my guess.

I stopped to look at both the Sony RX100 series and the Canon version at WPPI in Las Vegas. The kicker for me was when I tried out the Canon version, the pop-up EVF would not work. I had two of the Canon employees trying to get it working, and finally gave up in the interest of time. Canon had two of these at the booth and neither of them was working. All the Sony's worked, and I may pick up one of these at a future date. For my style it needs to have an EVF, and they have to be reliable!

YOU ARE SPOT ON. And here is where everyone can buy a case for their pocket Sony HX and RX camera's.

I was very interested in your post ("rumor") about Sony releasing a new RX 100 VIII with flash mount and wider lens. Any link to the rumor? Thinking of buying the Mark VII but the new features attract me. Thanks for the info.

I own a Sony Cypershot pocket camera, that I bought 4 years ago for less than $150. It only shoots JPEG. It has a zoom Zeiss lens from 25-200mm. Which is very sharp for a tiny sensor. Now, I want a HX99. The Sony RX100vii, is a little over my budget for a pocket camera. Both the HX99 and RX100 series can shoot RAW. Which makes it a better travel camera. Overall.
