Thanks, Walter
Thanks for the information.
There is distortion in the hand and wrist and the exaggeration of the size causes the hand to dominate the composition- it is taking up as much space, or more, in the frame that the face. Perspective is dependent on distance so if you used a lens of or zoom setting of a longer focal length that enables you to increase the camera/subject distance the apparent size of the hand would be smaller. If the camera position was more to the side of the subject, rather than straight on, the hand would be in better proportion as well.
There is not too much that can be done in post-processing to correct these issues but I did a quick edit just to illustrate a few points. I faked a 2/3 view of the face, darkened the hand, brightened the eyes. correct the skin-tone.
I realize this is a candid image so you could not "pose" the subject. All you can do in a situation like this is to establish a better camera angle and pay attention to distortion issues.
I hope this helps. Shoot more of these images and post the results. Seeing effective natural light has potential.
Thank you. I understand what you are saying.
A nice candid portrait.
If you have control of the situation, including a hand or fingers can offer an option in the session along with a straight forward face only portrait , giving a variety of image choices.
I often ask the subject to place a hand under the chin and folded, with one finger resting on the chin a hand on the side off the face, etc. that can be done in a few minutes for the entire session.
