One thing no one ever talks about being an adult is how much time you debate yourself on keeping a cardboard box because it's, like, a really good box.

I've got more than a dozen excellent cardboard boxes in my possession.
Need one?

I bought a printer. It came in a really nice box. I kept it.
12 years later I replaced the printer. I kept the really nice box.
3 years after that I moved. I used the box.

At no time did I ever debate with myself whether or not to keep the box. It was a no-brainer. Appropriately.

I find it difficult to discard a good box.

I keep a few, but most get broken down and into the recycle bin. 13 years in the grocery industry way back when so breaking them down and flattening them then into the baler for pickup by the recycle truck was an automatic process and I still break them down to fold like we did it then.

Yes, me too, and as a child the electric train and all the tracks never fit back into the box.

Perhaps we should in the buy/sell section of UHH advertise "Box Free" you pay the shipping. That way we know the box has a good loving home. I have seen in eBay old equipment "with original box." as a selling point. It is a universal addiction this thing of box collection.

If a box is reasonably-sized (not a box from a fridge) and it's sturdy, I'll keep it if I have an immediate use for it. Most of my cardboard gets cut up and put into my wood stove.

I keep them for thirty days just in case I need to send back whatever it is that came in it needs to be returned. Other than the camera/lens boxes from manufactures.

I had a selection of various size good cardboard boxes and pieces of bubble wrap stored in my garage for years. Two weeks ago, thinking to myself, “why am I hoarding these boxes”, I threw them out in the recyclables. On Monday, I went to Walmart to buy a small box and some bubble wrap, $6.00 total, to ship a lens that I sold.

I have no idea how many boxes I have in the garage. I break them down flat and store them.
