Hey guys,

Anyone had some experience with this lens? Read some reviews online, and they all said it was quite sharp - especially for the price. I’m planning to snag a second hand copy of it for 300AUD (~200USD) as a way to get started with wildlife and sports photography, but I’m also not entirely sure why it’s so cheap...

Your thoughts would be appreciated :)

I got mine used from keh.com for $225.00 and really like it. Here are a few examples from it.

What makes you think people claim to own a lens when they don't?
That's like saying people who don't post pictures don't have any.

He probably says it because that is what he does.

I own this lens and use it regularly on my Canon 80D. It's a great travel and all around lens. It can't match fixed lenses at the lower end, or more substancial "steel and glass" at the more extended ranges, but it's relatively light, sharp and versatile for the price.

I have used it but did NOT keep it very long - it is pretty good up to about 230mm - and goes down hill fast from there to 300.

The Sigma 100-300 f4 is a FAR, FAR better lens ! but is heavy with no IS/VR..... So are the latest OEM Canon and Nikon 70-300's. I cannot speak for the Sony 70-300 G - but I am very suspect.

I had one for maybe 9 months, dumped it for the Nikon af-s 70-300 vr. Nothing aginst Tamron i have the 150 - 600 g2 and love it. My wife has the 18-400 its the only lens she uses.
I just didnt like how soft i felt the images where. And had a chance to compare it head to head with the Nikon version. And went with Nikon.

Betaa, bought the SP70-300 year after the price drop. It's not the Nikon 70-300mm of course, but you can get a good deal on a good quality used Nikon 70-300 from Adorama.

I had the Tamron 28-300 pics were fair and not sharp especially on the edges . I got the Nikon 28-300 and BOOM 100% better . I have Sigma lenses and am very satisfied. Tamron appears to be like a kit lens.
