Tinusbum, you have an excellent climate for them down there. It is often said that "Things are bigger in Texas" so I'd be afraid to see some of the ones you have there.

Hey sippy.
As usual a brilliant piece of work. I don't find it at all ugly or scary. It's a spider and that's what they are.

Not nearly as scary as bears and mountain lions etc.
We might have the most poisonous snakes and spiders in the world but you never see them, more's the pity.

My aunt in upstate NY has been bitten twice by brown recluse's - nasty scarring.

Their bite can be quite nasty and long in healing. They are hunters and ambush spiders so they seldom go seen until something they are hiding in gets disturbed. Like most creatures they are content to go about their business until they feel threatened like picking up a box that they climbed onto.
