I was thinking of using black cardstock or foam, and rolling it into a cone shape to tape to the end of the flashlight.

That will work. I have done the same. If the light is still to bright put tissue over the flashlight first then the cone.

Thank you. Printing the background is much easer than masking or blending and you can use it over and over again. I mounted the print on black gator board so as not to crease or hurt the print.
