I usually apply simple math to these issues. If it is half the cost and performs only 90% as well and lasts 80% as long ............ then I get better than 75% performance for 50% of the money.
I do try to stay away from Chinese crap on principle.
I have some Vivitar batteries that are great. I personally have had some Wasabi that just didn't hold up well. Everyone has their own story.
It is like the toner cartridges here at the office. OEM is 5 times as much. Occasionally I have to toss one straight in the trash out of the box but at 5 for the money I don't get upset.

The only thing is that even most of the OEM batteries are made in China....

I know I am tilting at windmills. Seems everything is made in China except me. My Dad served in the Pacific but Mom stayed stateside.

I've also used Wasabis, Polaroid, RavPower, and a couple others in addition to Canon's LP-E6s that came with my 7d2 and 6d2. My personal experience is that they work fine but the Canon OEMs will give me 35%-50% more life per charge.
I have never had a problem with my spare Watson batteries. In fact I have their triple and double A rechargeable batteries and no problems there either.
Wasabi works great for me.got one for my t1i and my t3i.

This comes up quite often. I have been a digital shooter since the early โ90s. In that time span, I have primarily shot, in order of use, Oly, Canon (currently), Leica (bridge), and Nikon. When I buy btys, I generally go third party. In those almost 30 yrs, I have had one bty fail, an Oly. Bty case came apart. If I shoot another 30 yrs, Iโll stay with that pattern.
Fwiw, I probably wonโt live to shoot another 30 yrs! ๐๐๐
I got a Watson battery for free from B&H when I bought my D4s. Both camera and battery are still going strong.
I bought a pair of cheap batteries and charger for my Lumix LX 10. I only wanted the charger but it came all together for around $20. This was from a third party vendor on Amazon. The charger works great. One of the two batteries swelled the first or second time I used it. I mentioned this in my review. I was contacted by the vendor (they do read reviews) and asked if I would send a picture of the battery. To my surprise, a few days later a new battery arrived with a very nicely written apology. Weak product, but strong customer service.

I have the Canon 80D. I only have one Canon battery and would like another battery. The Canon is quite expensive and I will pay it if need be. Anyone have experiences with Watson or Wasabi batteries? Not worth saving 50% if they do not work as well as a real Canon battery. I am asking here as I do not trust reviewers to tell the absolute truth since they are being compensated ...........
Thanks
I prefer using OEM Nikon batteries. Have one starting itโs 15th year in my D50. I have two Promaster batteries bought in a pinch two years ago during
the holidays as backups. They seem ok too but not worth the savings compared to the Nikons.
I bought my 80D from B&H in June 2018. Naturally it included the canon battery, and B&H included the equivalent Watson battery. I have never had any issues with the Watson.
Spend thousands on a camera and save twenty five bucks on a battery. I have 6b extra for 2 cameras (5D & 7D) they us the same batteries, and the 5D has a battery pack. I number the batteries so I rotate them.
I have used wasabi batteries for years and find no difference.

I am a Nikon guy. I have experimented with several batteries from OEM to AA battery packs. To date my Nikon batteries have seemed to work the best in terms of run time and charging time. I also upgraded my D850 to the battery grip with the larger Nikon battery (#EN-EL15) which increased the frames per second rate and improved focus time.
