You have an Eye for Photography. The black and white (Sepia) was nice, broke the rules and it looks great, (my Favorite). The Fly very Nice, eagle amazing. You sure you're not a Pro?? the pictures are really great, they have my stamp of approval of PRO.

Thank you Roman. I'm sure I break all the rules since I don't really know them. I just love standing back and taking those pictures that they don't know I'm taking, just those unexpected expressions, you know , not posed. I tried the posing thing and it just bores me cause I like to move around. I'll have to try to upload a couple more for opinions.
Thanks, Trish

What I've observed with different Photographers even Pros, they break the rules and end up with amazing outputs. Yes we have to follow the guide lines of light comp, etc those are a given. its the EYE that makes the difference, You you got the EYE!!! Love the pic with the post.

Well thank you. That makes me feel good. I am my biggest critic. I usually find that the pictures I would choose are just the opposite of what others like. So, glad to have someone like the ones I do.

I use a site called usefilm.com which is free where you can post your pictures for others to comment on. Honestly the best part of it is seeing what others do as most feedback is usually nothing but praise if anything is written. I have included 3 pictures that I would love for all to be honest about. I have some ideas about each one that I could of, should have done differently but I would appreciate the eyes and opinions of others.

notno..nice work..1st shot..the crop I would do a bit different and leave room in front of the butterfly, and if you can tweak just him a bit I would try different levels of contrast and make sure the focus is on a part of the butterfly..2nd shot..nice expression and composition, just needs a little lightening up..his ears and his right eye are very dark, ears almost disappearing in the background..3rd shot..excellent, composition , lighting, the colors in the sky look pretty photoshopped but in this case it works, the only nit pik would be to clone out the tops of the 2 headstones in the bottom right...good work..thanks

Sure there are rules - there are books of rules, to me the thing to remeber is that there are no stinking, all of the time rules and that often what gets ones attention; be it in photography or anything else is the one that breaks the mold - the one that finds a new and novel way. I would add to that however that at times it is nice to know some guidlines just in case you have a once in a lifetime photo op when it might be better to make it fast then to miss it altogether. To me the number one is to do what you enjoy and remember your happiness is more importent then others - unless you are trying to market it. By the way I like you photo.

Great pictures - I going go with the eagle as my favorite. I would suggest on the fly picture you might like it more if it was more of a eye level angle. In general macro shots such as this has a better perspective at eye level. Great detail and focus. I really know little of what I write and I did insert myself in this thread and it bothers you take it for what it is worth - nothing. I have added one of mine that I have been told the background is a no-no; just went with what it was. Enjoy the day.

Thanks Not every photo has to be "perfect" I like the quote from Ansel Adams when he was asked how he took such great photos. His answer was simply, "Knowing where to stand."

notno..you are absolutely right about shooting for yourself, as people will see everyone sees the same thing differently, and enjoys different things or aspects of a picture..where one will say a pic is too dark another will say they like they shadow effect or some such..but seein' what others see and expanding your ideas and knowledge thru others perspectives I think is a good thing also..the lizard pic..I think is great.the background bein' "non-existant" makes him stand out very nicely..and I really like the dogs in sillouette also..easy to tell which is the top dog there..thanks

Thanks - in regard to first shot, yes I inderstand the room in front rule and tried it both ways. Decided I liked it this way as it gives me at least a better idea of the incline - how hard the little guy is working. On #2 - I do have a differrent vesion that is lighter - I opted for this one to add stress to the sorrowful eys - this one Buddy, knows how to work it. In at #3 - I can overdo Photshop and try to restain myself - the two headstones lower right I meant to clone out and instead I zoned out. All valid points and I appreciate very much you looking and commenting.
