I have a cheap aluminum Dolica tripod ($45) made in China that has become my most used tripod. I use good tripod techniques and my images are tack sharp even if I have a dSLR and a long lens on it. I have a Desmont carbon fiber tripod which is also made in China and it is rock steady.

Get your money back and it does not hurt to ask here before buying for sound advise.

This China company advertised a Peak Design tripod for $39.99. What was received was a cheap aluminum tripod worth about ?10.00. The companies response is to offer an $8 credit and for you to keep the junky tripod. When I stated I was filling a dispute they are now begging me to not file a dispute. Be aware, or, Beware.

Growing up, one of my father’s pearls of wisdom was “you get what you pay for.”

Did you really think you would get a great tripod from Peak Design from “China” for $39.99? Hopefully it was a good lesson learned, which didn’t cost you very much.

Bottom line .. my assumption was a knock off. My bank has already refunded my money from the dispute I filed. The Chinese company begged me to not file the dispute then offered me an $18 credit if I returned the wrong tripod. Too much to ship back. As an aside, I have a Gitzo aluminum tripod that is rock solid and weighs only 3+ lbs. Thank You to all who responded and offered advice.
