Thank you for your very kind words flyboy61...
Really glad that you found Rachel's image impressive...
that means a lot to me...
Many thanks for taking the time to review, reflect and for your comments Frank...
Greatly appreciated and yes totally agree... Black seamless (or Velvet) is to be cherished...
Love them since there is virtually no image degradation from flare... which is always an issue as it sadly was on this image... Was using a 32 year old 80-200mm push/pull Nikkor without Nano Crystal Coating... Lessons learned will continue using only the 70-200mm VR II moving forward...
As for your thoughts that it's impossible to get a white background from black seamless...
Hold on that... given enough watt/seconds it likely can be done, albeit I don't think I like to be in the studio on that attempt... lol
Thank you for your very kind words nimbushopper...
they are greatly appreciated...
Again thank you for your very kind words and continued support Bill...
Always truly appreciated...
Thank you for your very kind words Tdearing
They are truly appreciated...
btw, I'm so totally amazed that you live on a house boat on the Gulf of Mexico...
What an incredible journey!

Thanks again, yes I couldn't be happier or more blessed. Your work is terrific and the models very lucky for your efforts.

Many thanks PixelStan77.... Haven't heard back from her yet... fingers crossed her agency likes it...
Great photo. It would be informative to learn what she and her agency think about it.

I tried real velvet once!!! every wrinkle showed a different color shift (to the red side)
Only used flat black after that.
Lol on the black to white, wasn't a thought, was a statement.
Great portrait shot, Thomas.
Excellent work, as always! Your work is an inspiration to me.
Thanks again Tdearing... and I'm the lucky one to have an opportunity to collaborate with such gifted talent... it is they who actually make me look good!
Many thanks Markag... and I also would like to hear back on what her agency thinks also... many times it is long after a session that I become aware... btw, agencies aren't about to provide credits on imagery generated from models they send out "testing". One of the only ways to receive "named" credit is via publication... However the circulation numbers for printed media is in free-fall... everything is moving to on-line.

Understood, but your lighting is nearly perfect. Payment for your services or publication can't be the only response for your work. The agency must appreciate your work or they wouldn't have sent the model to you?
Frank I purchased "silk" velvet back in the early 1980's, it was extremely expensive back then...
Today it isn't to be found... It has been virtually replaced entirely by rayon albeit often mixed with traces of pure silk to it can be marketed as "Silk" velvet...
I keep my precious silk velvet rolled on a 6" wide tube... and drape it over black seamless...
The border between the paper seamless and silk velvet is dramatic... My experience with velvet is such that it is an absolute light sink... totally kills reflections...
That said, others who shoot silk garments have mentioned issues with silk cloth refracting light at different angles, thus producing different colors. Also have notice mentions about the shimmering appearance of silk being due to the triangular prism-like structure of the silk fibre. So this might have caused what you experience... don't know but my roll of velvet works for me :)
thanks again... and please don't try to generate a white BG from black seamless unless you wearing welder's goggles on set... lol
