Depending on your local, try putting a large box, similar to a steamer trunk, out on the street for the drivers to put the packages in. Works great in our rural area. Keeps the packages dry and out of sight.

In some neighborhoods that would just be seen as a package bank to be treated like a food bank -- come in and get a handout!

I agree it is the driver not the company. Here at my office it is the USPS that has horrible service including the misrepresenting of delivery attempts. On Thursday they use a temp that knows neither arabic numerals nor the english alphabet.
Find what works and insist on that service if possible.

Yup. Here it's the Fedex folk that suck. The USPS guys have been great.
The last one- I bought a box of those tape mailers. Fedex said "delivered to individual outside".
Didn't even wait for the porch pirate, just handed it too him.
The one before- bought a relative some Instax film from eBay. Never got here. I called the Fedex office to find out where, they said I need to come down to the pickup point. OK, which one? There's five within 25 minutes of me. They couldn't tell me. i need to show up. ?!?! Fedex records show it was sent, traveled, delivered to a pickup point, and then it disappeared.
Another- second time for this. Someone couldn't upgrade to Mojave or Catalina, so they sold their MacPro cheap to me. I receive it- it's kinda sideways, and dented. I take some pics and call the seller. SHE had taken pics, also. just in case. After Fedex assured her how careful they are, they wrapped two layers of bubble wrap around the case- leaving the four handles sticking out- and placed on an inch of foamies. When I got it, it was upended, one handle actually broken, bubble wrap and peanuts on the bottom. Broke a memory board. Contractor driver disputed these allegations, pictures, etc.
This is @ two months worth, Feb and March. No more deliveries.

Sounds about right!!
My FedX driver just dumps packages on the porch and poof he's gone Never knocks
MY UPS driver always knocks and set the packages out of sight on the porch.
I have an old galvanized wash tub sitting next to the door usually the he puts the package in it.

Good luck or bad luck with UPS and FedX is the final drivers. I'm lucky so far as both drivers are good. Inguess it's luck of the driver.

We have always given our USPS, UPS,and FedEx delivery drivers a jar of our bee's honey on holidays as a thank you. Our delivery service is great. It's a lot of effort for the bees & us to produce, & it is appreciated and repaid with good service. I might add that our house is 1/4 mile from the road on a gravel driveway.
You might try something similar, especially now during the pandemic..

I made sure I was at home for my expected delivery today. I checked tracking and FedEx claims I was not home for signature @ 10:10 am... THIS WAS NOT TRUE. This is the 3rd time. I finally got FedEx's phone # and filed a formal complaint. I Can't stand it when they make up excuses! I hope others call so we can get better service.

I responded to your original post when it first came up. Now I have an update -- look at the time line on this delivery. The package took two days to arrive at their distribution center located less than 3 miles from my home ------------------ and two weeks to get the last 3 miles!

Picked up

Just so you know, We are in the midst of a pandemic. Be thankful they are still delivering at all. They are doing so, to keep people employed, and so that you don't have to go out and risk infection.
