ORpilot,
Thank you.

I have my eye on traveling to Oregon again and heading up to the Rowena Crest Viewpoint this spring and snap a few photos per the river there.

I second that. I moved up to a 6d from a crop sensor EOS and it was great. But it's older. I'd seriously consider the R. Be aware that the EF-S lenses will not work with a full frame camera. I found that out the hard way.

The Canon adapter is independent of the body. The adapter supports EF-S on both EOS R / EOS RP bodies ....

Good to know. There's a reason to pick the R.

That was my guess, but wasn’t sure. I have tested EF-s lens on my RP, but don’t use on it as a practice.

ORpilot,

Now that is a great idea. I will use it more than just the Yellowstone trip. Here in the Seattle area I chase Orca whales when they arrive in Puget Sound and this lens will help to reach out and touch them. However, I think rental is great for my Yellowstone trip as a test run.

Thanks,
Keith

Renting is a great way to "try before you buy".

Hi All UHH Members,

I am thinking about moving from my Canon t2i to a full frame camera. I can't spend more than about 2k. My current lenses are only good for my t2i, so everything requires change.

I am asking for suggestions that fit into the $2k catagory. Of course maybe a package deal for starters.

I like my t2i but am not set on staying with canon. BTW I shoot mostly outdoors and landscape and nature. I am very novice at this.

Thanks for your suggestions in advance.

Keith

As a self-described novice, For your situation, the chances you need a full frame camera are about 0.1%. The manufacturers' advertising and GAS-suffering chatter on UHH may have convinced you that you need a FF. The only reason for you to upgrade is if your current camera doesn't do something you need. Make an honest assessment of this issue, and then decide. >Alan

Or, perhaps he just wants a new camera. If he is still shooting with a T2i then it seems pretty obvious that he isn't just rushing to buy the latest and greatest.
It mystifies my as to why as soon as someone posts a question about buying a new camera that others feel they just have to provide that person with a lecture on how to spend their money. Do these same people lecture their neighbors when they hear they are thinking about buying a new car or a new TV?
It's their money. They get to decide how they spend it.

Why change ? Crop camera models will do almost everything needed unless it is very large enlarged
prints for display. If the largest print ever needed is 11X14 it should be fine with the current equipment.

This is only my opinion, but equipment does not make a person a better photographer.

Learning the equipment one has as long as it finds their needs should be considered. Beyond that the ability to see light and composition is much more important.

Take time to join a local camera, club, sign up for an affordable workshop or two.

New equipment will give one more and improved technical options, but it does not come your ability got see.
