Hi All UHH Members,

I am thinking about moving from my Canon t2i to a full frame camera. I can't spend more than about 2k. My current lenses are only good for my t2i, so everything requires change.

I am asking for suggestions that fit into the $2k catagory. Of course maybe a package deal for starters.

I like my t2i but am not set on staying with canon. BTW I shoot mostly outdoors and landscape and nature. I am very novice at this.

Thanks for your suggestions in advance.

Keith

The Canon eos r is a good one, on sale now within your budget but that's body only. The Canon RP with a lens is also within your budget. You might wait a month, some new Canon's are rumored, possibly one lower than an RP. Check out bhphoto and sort by price. Some good options.

Believer,

Thank you, I have looked at the canon RP, but saw mixed reviews. I am headed to Yellowstone late May and want to upgrade and test before then.

Thank You

Did you consider used or refurbished cameras online from places like Adorama or KEH? With the money you would save you can also pick up a lens.

look at th Sony a7iii. The a7iii has almost the same high speed focus system as their top of the line a9ii. or for more resolution look at a7Rii. I have the a7iii and it is an amazing camera

Sony a7iii Sigma 150-600mm MC-11 adapter

Ched49,

Yes I have considered refused and used but have not researched that aspect yet. I am a bit cautious but if there are honest dealers as you have identified I will certainly talk to them.

Thank You

Hi All UHH Members, br br I am thinking about mov... (show quote)

If you are a novice, your equipment is not holding you back and spending more money will not improve your results. Keep shooting with what you have and keep saving your money. When you can identify a concrete area where your equipment is holding you back then and only then spend money to upgrade.

You might also take a look at Canon refurbished (for Canon gear, of course). They can have some very good deals that would fit your budget, and everything I have purchased from them have been like new. Their refurbished products come with a one-year warranty. It's not the most advanced camera today, but the 6d is a really good camera that is priced such that you should be able to get a good refurbished lens to go with it. It operates much like your t2i and may very well get you what you are looking for.

Good luck with your decision.

This is why I went with Nikon. Crop frame Nikons, and Full Frame Nikons, can use the same lenses. I started out with a Crop Frame camera, and bought mostly Full Frame lenses for it. When I moved up to a Full Frame camera it could use the lenses, and batteries, I already had. Canon is another story. When I learned how incompatible the Canon Crop Frame system was with the Canon Full Frame system, I decided that Canon does not exist as far as I am concerned. I have heard nothing new to change my mind. Sites like this, Youtube, etc, will give you advice about which Canon items are allegedly worth owning. Since you have to change anyway-from what you currently have-consider changing to a Nikon DSLR system. The F Mount cameras will be around for awhile yet, but will be dropping in price as the Z Mount stuff begins to catch on. Even now you can get old Ai, Ai-S, AF, and AF-D, lenses for Nikon cameras such as the D750. One AF lens-from the film camera days-cost me $29.00...for a 28-80mm lens that still works great on my DSLR. An older 70-300mm lens cost me just $79.00. You won’t get bargains like that on Canon gear.

I started with the T2i and it was/is a very good camera, my current camera is the 90D, I was also looking into FF, but to be honest, unless you are a PRO, I have changed my mind. for 2K you could get the 90D and the updated 18-135 & 10-18, now you are ready to roll. just my opinion.

I've just moved up from a CANON 60D to a CANON 6D mkII + 24-105 lens. This set me back £1600 direct from CANON U.K. They discounted the cashback at point of sale and gave a 2yr. guarantee.

Check out CANON U.S.A. You may be able to source a refurb slightly cheaper.

Well, I'm a Nikon guy, so I can say that a D750 plus their 24-120 f4 lens is a very nice combo that should fit your budget. I own both and they have served me well.

Having said that, I think miked46, above, made an excellent point. Why change brands and go
to FF at this point? For Yellowstone you'll want all the reach you can get, so I'd go with an 80D or 90D, keep you current camera/lenses and consider a Tamron 18 - 400 super-zoom. (I hate changing lenses all the time when travelling!) Just my humble opinion! 🙂
Good luck,
Don
