I have a question that you might know the answer to before I find out myself. I need to put either XP or 7 back on a computer for a specific purpose, something that Windows 10 can't do for me. Will the old updates for Windows 7 still download and install, even though there are no new ones except for Enterprise users who pay for them?
Oh, and it will be on laptop that allows easy swapping of drives. I'll just put it on a spare one. That's the other thing. If it gets trashed, I can just take it out.

I just answered my own question. I put a spare drive in a laptop and installed Windows 7. Windows update is going to town, taking hours. I presume that it will install everything that was available right up until support stopped. I'm not going to use this otherwise on the internet. This has to do with Windows 10 not reading some of my DVDs that contain home video of the kids. I'm extracting the video from them and converting into files. MP4 is fine. The old VHS Video doesn't deserve anything that might be better.
