The 18 -105 mm “G” F4 lens is a power zoom. As a photo lens it is very sharp, and for video the constant f4 allows smooth zooms in focus. It is 395 including shipping. I use PayPal

I just received a Sony body (A6000) without lens and I have a couple of Canon zoom lenses and primes.
If I buy an adapter (Canon to E mount with connectivity for AF and Aperture control), how close to I'll be getting the same results as with the "real think" ?. My budget is somehow limited now...
Thank you for any shared experience and/ or input. !

If your funds are limited I would recommend the Commlite adaptor. It's well made and can be picked up for a low price. I have used one on several EOS lenses without any problems but I never use auto focus. I have also read that some EOS lenses don't focus well with adaptors.

I've used several EF to (F)E adapters. MetaBones III/IV work reasonably well BUT Sigma's MC-11 adapter has worked the best of any and is less money than the MetaBones.

My experience with the Sony A6000 and Canon lenses was so bad that I would not recommend it. I don't want to insult any particular lenses or adapters, because it may have been my fault, but I found the combination to be slower, less reliable, slightly larger, only about as sharp as the inexpensive Sony 50mm 1.8. In addition, I lost the "better than nothing" image stabilization.

On the "Newer Generation" Sony cameras (like the A6600 or whatever), the adapters are supposed to work much faster, but on the A6000 it was annoying.
My experience with the Sony A6000 and Canon lenses... (show quote)

Yep, ditto here!

Without the real Canon camera you are just so so.

And it sure makes the transition off Canon at lot easier. I moved to Sony in 2013 and just sold my last batch of Canon lenses in November.

Don’t do it either get Sony lens or on tight budget get. The LEA-4 adapter and use the Minolta/Sony Alpha lenses

Folks, make no mistake, using ANY adapter on Sony e-mount is problematic !! The very latest Metabones and the Sigma MC11 seem to be the best - but ultimately, your results will depend on your exact camera/lens combo with the adapter - and the results will never be as good as a native lens.
.

Thank you!

I purchased the Sigma adapter for my A7rii using my Canon 16-35 f2.8; 100mm macro; 70-200 2.8; 24-105 f4 lenses and it works beautifully. So much so, that I have only purchased the Sony 50mm f1.4.

Choice #1: Buy the used Sony e mount lenses from MPB.com, from BH Photo, and etc.,
i.e. Sony e 16-50mm and Sony e 18-55mm would not break your bank.

Choice #2: Buy Sigma MC-11 for $249 or for $149 on sale which performs much better than $399 Metabones V. (I have both adapters)

The Minolta AF lenses with the LA-EA4 adapter work very nicely on both my full frame A7S and A7 III. I have eight Minolta AF lenses; good glass!

The Sony LA-EA2 works equally well with APS-C sensor cameras.

I'm a little late to the party, but PHOTODIOX makes Canon to Emount adaptors. I have two (pro) adapters from them and they work just fine at less than half the price of some. A Canon FD lens to Sony E mount camera and a Canon EF to Sony E mount camera. The FD to Emount has a built in extender that makes the lens a macro lens if you want. Does the EF to Emount focus fast-NO, but it does focus after a second or three. Does it provide stabilization? I guess I am not concerned as a lot of my photos are done on a tripod. Build quality is excellent. My last purchase was Canon FD to E mount and it was 109.00 plus plus through Adorama. They make a tilt shift adapter for FD to Emount and that will be my next purchase for architecture. It is 199 bucks, but well worth it verses buying a tilt shift lens.

Any of these adapters changes the focus point in relation to whats indicated on the lens. I am pretty sure it changes the focal length of the lens also but how much I don't know. It is a chuck of metal between the lens and the camera sensor.

All of this said. Canon FD lens abound on the net at very reasonable prices and they are all manual focus. Two reasons I brought the FD to E M is drop in ND filters and superior build quality of the PRO series adapter.
