It's with a very heavy heart that I'm letting you all know that Earl passed away today at about 2:30AM. He and I became friends shortly after he joined UHH in December of 2012, and I can't remember when we became managers together on closeup. He's been a good friend to my husband and to me, and he will be missed terribly. Thanks to everyone for your loyalty to closeup during his absence, and I hope you'll continue to post here. It will be lonely without our good buddy...

Thank you for passing on this very sad news to Earl’s UHH family. He will be missed.
So sorry to hear that Donna. He and his work here on the UHH will be missed.

Very sad to hear. I will miss his beautiful drone and music links he sent to me. RIP our UHH friend. Thank you Donna.
So sorry to hear this sad news.
Heart breaking news, Donna! Earl was such a constant presence and his photos of gorgeous seascapes and farmlands were hard to beat. What I found most amazing was his wonderful videos. He was a friend to all and he will be sorely missed!
You're all most welcome. So very sad...

Good bye old friend...I'll miss our weekly phone calls and almost daily Email...not to mention the pics we sent back and forth to each other over the years.
OH! Donna, this saddens me so much! I'm not sure how many people knew that he was not just a photographer that enjoyed shooting the scenery from around his coastal town but had interests in shooting videos from his drone camera, was a professional musician, had a recording studio, taught piano, had toured with a band in the U.S. in his younger days, had interests in Arabian horses...just a multi-talented man with many interests. I will miss him terribly.

It wrenches the heart, but thank you, Donna; Posts like this show what a very decent person you are. You make UHH better.

Oh, Donna, I was afraid of this and sent him a PM last week just hoping that he might receive and be able to read it and just minutes ago somehow your old message about Earl that I had saved popped up and for just a minute I thought that he was back!... While talking about music with Earl many years ago he mentioned taking a ferry across to a little pub or restaurant and talked with him about music being played on the boat during the trip and I mentioned that he should have be playing also. It was then that he told me about touring in the States for a number of years with Willie Nelson and his group and afterward, he sent me some beautiful videos accompanied by his music and Donna, he was very talented! Just a couple of days ago I was telling my son about Earl's illness and his love for the Clarence River and my son googled Australia and showed me where the Clarence was located. One other thing, a few years ago an uhh member posted that Shooter Jenning(Wahlen Jennings son) had passed and looking on the website the only one visiting the site and commenting beside me was Earl! I will really miss him!
Thanks for the update Donna. Will miss seeing his excellent photos. Feeling very sad.
