You can try Open-Shell-Menu. It is very customizable and emulates the Windows 7 menu. The second best thing about it, it's free.

Thanks. Sounds like just what I need. I have been using WIN8 for 5yrs with no problems after I figured out how to emulate the traditional desktop layout. For me, WIN7 was the best behaved and easiest to use so far, although if memory serves me correctly WIN95 was quite good.

You're welcome, glad I could be of help. Being a tech, I've had to use everything since DOS 2.0. I agree with you on WIN 95 & 98. XP was also pretty good. I was quite happy with 7 and hated 8 until I figured out how to change the interface. Each time I upgrade it is with reluctance. However, if I'm to help others, I have to learn what people are using. We'll see what the future holds with MS, I would imagine the next version will be a subscription service like Office 365, Quicken and many of the photo processing software.

Do yourself a favor - forget 8 and move on to 10. XP was good in its day, 7 was excellent, and 10 is probably the best release yet (just use a classic style shell if you don’t like the interface). 8 and Vista are both frankly a POS.
