Your panning technique on the moving cars is amazing. Do you have any tips short of taking thousands of shots? Does using a 50mm lens and getting really close help?

Just a lot of practice. I have been shooting aircraft for about 10 years. So that helps. The night shots are from the 50mm. I actually would have been better off with a longer lens. The day shots are from the 80-400.
