I want to hear from any and all who have any experience and or knowledge about this Nikon 10--20mm f/4.5--5.6 AF-P Zoom Lens.
Need to know for sure if it is compatible with my Nikon D3300 Camera. I have heard two different opinions thus far. I need to know for sure before I buy one. Thank in advance to all UHH'ers for you help.

Nikon site - Only AF-S lens will autofocus according to Camera's specs, but looking further:

Above link indicates AF-P lens will work with appropriate firmware update (Search on D3300) on above page.

This is a lens on my wish list. It is an AF:P lens that is formatted for crop sensor DX DSLRs. It's inexpensive, and is presently selling at a reduced holiday price. The lens will give you a FOV of 15-30mm on a crop sensor. It is made mostly of lightweight plastic. It is not built like a tank, and is not weather sealed. But, still a good lens for the price. Less than $300 for the Xmas price. Early production D3300 cameras need a firmware to accommodate AF-P lenses.

According to Nikon, your camera can handle a AF-P lens.

That lens is very sharp, Nikon sent me a copy to test and I found it very sharp. You will not be disappointed. Check out the reviews on this lens.
And, it is currently on sale.

I have this lens - el cheapo plastic construction (including the mount), but optically it's good....I have the D3300 but use it mainly on my D7200. It is compatible with both the D3300 and D7200 with a firmware update. The only exception with the D3300 (and D7200) you can't turn off the VR since there is no external hardware switch on the lens barrel. On newer APSC bodies like the D500 or D7500 you have a menu option to turn off VR. In my experience with this lens it doesn't affect IQ either way. Generally AF-P lenses are incompatible with the older vintage bodies such as the D90 and D3000, etc. (with or without firmware updates).

If the lens works with your camera why not renting one? You will see if the lens is indeed appropriate for your photography and if the investment is worth it.

Thank you, it is most likely a Nikon AF-P 10-20mm 4.5-5.6 lens that I am interested in buying, and yes I am aware of the necessary firmware update on this lens for my D3300.

Plastic (composite) lens mount ensures I wouldn't buy one. I have an older Sigma 10-20 variable aperture lens for when I need SWA on my DX bodies...

Tell me. How many lenses with a plastic lens mount have you witnessed being worn out?

I just ordered this Lens from Adorama for $214.00. I am hoping my Nikon D3300 will be compatible as the "Chart" stated. I know it is a plastic mount, but if I am careful and take my time Mounting it properly, I hope to not have any problems with it being a Plastic Mount.
Does anyone here know how to aquire the "Update" on the Firmware on this lens if I find it to be a necessity?
I am an Advanced Beginner, still have much to learn.

I just bought this lens from Adorama and they sent me an email saying that this lens is definately compatible with my Nikon D3300 Camera, so we will see, I guess. I read a "Chart" which also shows the D3300 camera being Compatible with this Nikon 10-20mm 4.5-5.6 AF-P wide angle lens. So, again, We Will See.!!😊

I’d get it off your wish list and into the cart at your favorite vendor while it’s still on sale assuming you have a compatible camera. I bought one for my D7100 when they first came out and it is an absolute winner. Don’t procrastinate!!

It is compatible and very good.
Do NOT let plastic naysayers dissuade you.
The lens is light and thus no stress on the mount and unless you have a NFL player stomp on it at a dead run will hold up just fine.
Ps it is sharp.
