Here is another extremely dull image that appears fine in the down load. The EXIF data is consistent with images that have loaded correctly. This doesn't happen in the other sites with the same images.

I don't know what is causing this and its extremely disheartening.

The usual reply is to check the colorspace to make sure it is srgb, but i imagine you've done that.

Joe,
Was your ISO a little higher than usual?
Just taking a guess.

Absolutely, you are correct. I am surprised that so few people comment on it. Yes, the downsized "thumbnail" image does not look as good as your original, and yes it is disheartening.

I downloaded the earlier image, noting the same question. I'd contact ADMIN and see if they have any comments. The colorspace was sRGB. I saw no other reason why the thumbnail looks like the wrong colorspace. ADMIN may know.

I noticed that the download was rather slow, could it be partially due to the size of the file?

Your original is 2268 x 3402 pixels. The thumbnail is reduced by the website's software to 600 pixels wide. I doubt it takes all the steps you would if downsizing it yourself.

The large files are great for those who click on download for every picture they view. I doubt that is the case. The images I post are 600 x 800 and edited to look the best I can get them at that size, without having to click anything.

I've heard of resize induced softening made worse by whatever method the website uses, if you don't do it yourself, can't say I have expertise in it, just let Photoshop do it's thing on export. Saw this article. https://photographylife.com/how-to-properly-resize-images-in-photoshop

I Do Not Know What exactly you are disappointed in your image, it looks fine to me, although I consider myself as a Advanced Beginner and am far from being an expert in Post Processing. So, hopefully you will find answer to your concerns.
Best to you and your Photography Journey.

I've noticed quite a few posted images that look out of focus, but when clicking the download, that image is tack sharp. Your image - focus looks good, but coloring quite different in the download. Great shot !!

I normally do a raw conversion in Capture One so I tried an ARW file in Luminar 4 and did a trial posting here. It did the very same thing...down load was good...reduced image dull.

Additionally when I opened the file in CS6 it too was dull so I don't believe it is my color space (sRGB) or raw conversions.

I had a Windows update yesterday it may be related.

I have had that problem with the thumbnail when I was using anything other than sRGB image space. It appears that this site is using a different setting for the thumbnail than the full-size image. Here is the warning that I saw in your EXIF data:

WARNING: Embedded color profile: “(unrecognized embedded color profile 'ProPhoto RGB')”
Some popular web browsers ignore embedded color profiles, meaning users of those browsers see the wrong colors for this image.
Images for the web are most widely viewable when in the sRGB color space and with an embedded color profile.

I see other users stating that you should check the download for better colors, so it is not just you. If you prefer the ProPhoto RGB for your images, then you can simply use the same notation about the Download.
