Has anyone purchased or heard whether or not the newest PhotoShop Elements us worth the money? I currently have Elements 15, and am pretty happy with it, so am wondering if 2020 is worth the money?

Although, I AM "building a case for a replacement laptop"( as a Costco Concierge employee put it) for a dead Dell laptop still under Costco's two year warranty. So I will most likely have to buy another photo editing software if some kind, since I have used up PhotoShop's one computer allowance.

Do any ideas or advice anyone has regarding PhotoShop, or any other comparable photo editing software would be much appreciated.

I use Affinity and am very happy with it. You buy it for $50 and all updates are Free after that. You can download a 30 day free trial of it. Give it a try you may like it !

You should be able to use the Photoshop Elements you currently have. Adobe’s rule is you can only be using the software on one computer at a time, not that you can’t have it installed on more than one.

I agree. Don't buy 2020 unless there's some new feature(s) you have to have. Otherwise, just install the old software on new hardware and move on.

I am a user of Elements 15 who recently purchased Elements 2020, while I plan to keep and explore it I do not see any overwhelming reason to purchase the newer version.

I did purchase Adobe Elements 2020 and am very happy with it. I had been using Adobe's LR/PS subscription and was very happy with it but wanted to cut costs and monthly subscriptions. Also I think the full LR/PS was overkill for my needs. I calculated that if I needed to do so, I could update Elements every 2-3 years and still be under the costs for the Adobe LR/PS subscription.

Since I am a hobbyist photographer, Elements 2020 appears to do everything I need so far. Should you switch? I am unfamiliar with earlier versions of Elements but I do agree with the philosophy that if it is still working and doing what you need it to do then why spend the extra money. But I will say that the new Elements 2020 guided mode is great for some of the PS operations as it guides you through some of the trickier steps.

I have both PSE and Premiere installed on a desktop and two laptops.
I always close a program when I'm finished with it and have never had a problem opening PSE or Premiere again on one of the other two.

I have almost the exact same setup and it works great, no problems.

Personally, I would not install old software on a new computer. Its already like 5 generations behind. You can buy elements 2020 on Amazon for like $60.

I went from Elements 11 to 14 and stayed there. The upgrades give you two things, compatibility with new camera model RAW files and automation of some features from older versions. Rarely do they include new tools or technology.

Adobe still offers “try and buy,” don’t they? How about downloading the trial version and giving it a spin. If you like, buy. If not, uninstall and be satisfied with what you have. By the way, if you decide to purchase after the trial, looking around for a better price is suggested. After you get the purchase version, you won’t have to uninstall the trial version, just enter the serial number and you’re set.

I have Premiere Elements 15 and upgraded to 2020 and find that it's quite a lot better. But this is the video editor and not the picture editor program. I think you'll find it better. With the Elements programs, I think if you wait at least 2 versions you'll benefit from new things it has to offer. In your case it's 4-5 versions newer so you should find quite a few improvements.

I have and feel very comfortable with PSE 15. However, I am now forced to go to 2020 by the nature of my using a Mac. If I understand correctly, any app using 32 Bits will no longer be welcomed in the Apple World.

If I had my druthers, I would stay with '15' But on the other hand, from what I read here, 2020 is not so very different; which means to me that upgrading should not have a steep learning curve.

I was using PSE 15 and last year upgraded to 19 which did offer me a few additional tricks. However, PSE 2020 did not provide any significant changes from the 19 version. You can do a search online to compare the different versions over a few years. I think it will give you the differences from 14 or 15 through 2020.
