So Bob lets break down your teaching technique....

"if you try to lower the intensity, raise the value, and harmonize the background color, your subject would stand out more"?

Now lets take the first bit.... Lower the intensity.... Of what..... your not specific but generalised...

Raise the value..... Of what..... Your not specific but again generalise....

and harmonize the background color….. Another generalised statement...

Your not very good at this explaining yourself or communicating well.... for a teacher.....

Intensity of look …. intensity of colour … Intensity of feeling... Intensity of contrast... this could go on all night as a guessing game because of your poor lack of communicating it right in the first place...

I have a very good mentor who is very well respected and honoured... I don't need non value added critiques from self appointed experts... Life is too short to suffer fools .. Or self appointed experts..

You have proven my point. You are quite right, words are way too general. For example, take this written advice, similar to what appears here often: "if you try to increase the color intensity, raise the value, and harmonize the background color, your subject would stand out more." Now, look at the variations of the original (leftmost) applying that advice. Surely you can see what I mean?

Bob did you miss the bit out that pointed out your very poor teaching ability..... That is what it proved nothing else... INTENSITY OF COLOUR 2nd on the list which you now add the word colour to defend your incompetent generalised quote and make it look that you actually know what your on about... And on that note I'll leave you to your fantasy world...

Just a quick note as to why your section failed.... See above …. Too many self appointed experts like yourself saying look at me I'm right … Do it my way... I've got 30 years experience...

I have driven a car for 30 years but I'm no Lewis Hamilton... My dog chases cars and I'm quite sure if he ever catches one he wont be able to drive it... You keep chasing your dream of being a teacher... ;-)

Bob

Your poor example only highlighted your lack of communication skills..... all the tripe you have put here could have been summed up with a few well chosen words...

" increase your saturation slightly"

See how easy that was and how easy it is for the OP to then go off and ramp up a colour slider.... so your whole sentence can be summed up in 4 well chosen words and no example editing of the OP's work either..... Ahhh that's not why your protesting you need to edit.... That's still possible all you do is go get a camera and learn how to take pictures then you can edit all you want... Or you could start a section with Critiques and editing of other peoples work to satisfy your need...Ohh you already tried that one...

Not only a poor driver and poor reader, but apparently bereft of word skills. "Slightly" has how many applications. Thank you for again proving my point. You might also want to brush up on copyright law. I am going to see if any of your photos are interesting enough for me to incorporate into one of my works.

Says a lot of your own body of work if you have to steal other peoples work.....

You don't have to worry I've seen your work and now know why your desperate not to work on it..... LOL

Thank you for pointing out that I am as "desperate" as Picasso.

Also, your comment about my art proves my point again. Generalities mean nothing. You have to be specific, laddie. Go ahead and post/manipulate to try to make your point.

No need for the last word.

I've given you a chance to prove what you say, using my work. Can't do it, apparently. Until you do come up with something REAL instead of verbiage, I see no need for me to respond.

I'd just like to make a quick point here. In some of the smaller sections a certain amount of familiarity develops among the regulars and some of the members in that group become known for allowing edits to their images, so occasionally you'll see edits being posted without the poster seeking permission first because he/she knows that edits have been OK'd in the past.

To a casual observer that might look like the poster of the edit taking liberties, but everybody within that group will understand the circumstances and know it for what it is. So just because somebody might see edits being posted without prior permission, that's not a green flag for any edits to be posted without the poster seeking permission.

Thank you R.G.

I understand that some will allow editing and familiarity of friends over a period of time will give that married relaxed atmosphere... I'm more concerned with the small minority of individuals who feel they have an ordained right to edit or critique without any prompt from the OP.... When challenged they normally come out with the old one that they need to show what they mean rather than telling how to do it in a comprehensive manner so the OP actually gets something out of it and learns and develops from actually doing it....

Then there are the Experts we need to be wary of … and they know who they are...….;-)

Regards
Joe

ManyUFF have listed on their posting about not altering your image or adding an image to your post.

That preference may or may not be expressed in the signature area or in a thread's original post, but in any case the hope is that the image owner's wishes would be respected. The fact that those wishes may in some cases not be expressed specifically anywhere is the reason why permission should be sought first - unless the editor of the image has clear prior knowledge of the fact that the image owner does allow edits.

I am curious. Joe keeps on and on about "experts."

Joe, what exactly is your experience in critiquing? I am a paid jurist and conductor of critiques. I am afraid your narrow-mindedness might hamper others' expectation of good critiques. Perhaps I am wrong, and if we really care about others, it would be good to know your professional experience, even though you do not specifically address the issue of methods of critiquing with visual proof.

Same for R.G. Outside of moderating, a bit narrowly and roughly as I've experienced it, a section here, are you in any way a professional or amateur conductor of critiques?
