An excellent job Mike. It is a very solemn place which does overlook the city of Honolulu. You've captured it well. Mahalo for you service and for sharing with us.

As retired military I had to visit The Punchbowl (National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific). Established in 1949, it is the final resting place for about 34,000 military members, primarily focused on the WWII, Korean War and Vietnam conflicts. In addition to being a national monument, it is a beautiful venue with excellent views of Oahu.

Instead of naming my service, i deliberately refer to myself as "military" because despite our normal rivalries, this is a place that reminds us that all who wore the uniform are brothers and sisters.

Attached are a few shots of this humbling place and its surrounding views.

Thank you for the tour!!! A wonderful place that I would like to see and photograph. Your second photo brought to mind the opening of the original Hawaii Five-0. I loved that show.

Mike, that is a very solemn and quiet place to visit. I've been there many times. Even though I was rather young, I still grasped the overwhelming sanctity of The Punchbowl. As for the Lincoln Letter, it is very difficult to read that letter without becoming emotional. It's a rarity to find any politician after Lincoln who could match his craft for composing a speech or letter.

Thanks for sharing these photos.

Really nice series! I understand not making specific reference to your specific service. I share that feeling and when talking to others they often ask what I did in the military and I normally tell them "everything they asked me to do". Thanks for sharing the photos.

I appreciate you looking and commenting.

Really well done Mike. Cemeteries tend to be such beautiful and tranquil places where the dead my lie in everlasting peace.

Thanks for the kind words.
