Your camera allows you to use Capture One for Sony. If you did not get a disk for it, go toPhase One or Capture One and see what you can download for free as a raw processor for your Sony camera. There might be an upgrade or a Pro version that you can download that might cost money.

If you're brand new to this you may want to put the RAW development thing on the back burner for a while and just work with your JPG files. If you really do want to get started editing the RAW files there is a free version of "Capture One Express" for Sony cameras. There is a learning curve involved, but that what YouTube is for.

Also for free is the Faststone Image Viewer, a very handy file viewer, and ultrabasic JPG editor.

Use the software that came with your camera. If you didn’t get a disc, you probably got a link to the company’s website where you can download the application.

Otherwise, you’ll need post-processing software from a third party. Prices range from free to very expensive. You can buy a license for one version from some vendors, who may charge a fee for any future upgrades. Or, you can subscribe to a plan, and always be up to date.

It comes with a link to Capture One Sony Express - but they lure you in by providing a free trial of the Pro version which is paid for. After the free trial, it reverts to a pretty useless Express version. The Pro version is available for a small fee - I think I paid $70 to get the Sony Pro version. I find I better than Lr, DXO or On1 for editing Sony images.

Good to know! $70 is reasonable for C1 Pro.
