Depending on what developing software you have, it may or may not be able to open RAW images. If not, there's a RAW converter program that's free. Or, your camera's processing program that likely came with your camera should open them. Viewing RAW images is another matter. My Windows 7 laptop would show the files but not display them. My Windows 8 and 10 computers will actually display the RAW images.

There are some free ones available online such as, affinity, darktable and rawtherapee. Just Google free photo editors.

Use the software that came with your camera. If you didn’t get a disc, you probably got a link to the company’s website where you can download the application.

Otherwise, you’ll need post-processing software from a third party. Prices range from free to very expensive. You can buy a license for one version from some vendors, who may charge a fee for any future upgrades. Or, you can subscribe to a plan, and always be up to date.

Affinity is only free for 30 days. After that, you pay $50 for it, or it quits working.

RAW images should open on your puter just like the JPEGS but they will look flat because they are RAW image files. I use a Nikon D200 and I shoot RAW + JPEG Fine. I recently subscribed to Light Room. I have both Classic and the cloud one. They process RAWS very well. I use the Auto adjust feature and on some I tweak the exposure and other settings because I am just learning how to use it. It works GREAT.
You have so much more control with the RAWs than JPEG. Even though if you get a good shot, the JPEG should fit your need.
On the RAWs images I adjust and save off to a folder on my desktop, they save as JPEGS after being 'adjusted' or 'brought to life' in Light room.

This works for me.
Bruce.

What program on your Windows 10 computer are you using to open RAW files? I would be grateful if you could let me know.

Thanks.

Not a problem. It is worth the price, and Mac users find that it works as an Apple Photos plugin.
