Hi everyone my name is Joanna. I took up photography 2 years ago. I have been doing it as a hobby and enjoying it greatly. I am self-taught so that has been a little tricky but also a little exciting because every time I learn something new it opens up a whole new world to me. I am open to any suggestions that you can give me as an up-and-coming photographer. I have sold some of my work and actually recently created a calendar of my photographs. Once I come up with down payment money I will be able to produced the calendars hopefully for pretty nice profit. That in itself is exciting! I find photography to be my greatest escape from reality. When I'm taking pictures I go to my own universe and I can't hear anybody else. I can't think about anything else, and it is truly freeing for me. I look forward to learning new things from this site and hopefully improving my photography.

Welcome to the UHH Joanna. Prior to taking up photography, did you have any formal art education or experience? I ask that because it can be helpful as you progress in gaining skills as a photographer.
Welcome to the Forum, Joanna, I did notice that you already posted some good shots, enjoy.

Welcome to a great forum Joanna! You will learn lots here. I did see your post of the snow flake, and I knew instantly that you were sincere. Why? Because you were really happy to get the feedback you got! You listened and learned! We all learn all the time. Asking for advice is (IMO) truly the mark of someone who has a deep desire to learn. THAT'S A GOOD THING!!! Keep working hard, ask questions, and believe in your self.
You will find a lot of other pro's on here that are willing to help you with all that you ask.
Good luck, and have fun with the Art of Photography!
Thanks, Boone.
Welcome to the Hog, Joanna. I have seen a couple other posts from you and believe you are heading in the right direction. As others have said, there are many here who will provide guidance, advice and humor. Some may even provide a little irritation but just take that in stride. This is a great place to learn and socialize.
I too am more or less self taught, having started back almost 50 years ago, and I'm still learning. Don't ever stop learning about photography and everything else.
Welcome. Pretty impressive to have sold work so early in your journey. I know some great photographers who never sold a thing. Again welcome pro.
