Kruger National Park - The Lions

There are about three different prides in the areas I visited. Was lucky enough to see at least two of them. I was surprised that the older males are often grey in colour - like the sleeping guy in one of the photos. They come close to the roads so they're not that hard to see - especially in seasons when foliage is sparse. Older males and females often have scars - they're not as pristine looking as their zoo counterparts. Life is hard when you live in the wild.

Deb Ann thanks for sharing your great images and info about the different prides, The first two are my favorite.

Very nice. I like them all. They look very laid back. If I ever get there I think I'll take a stroll up close for an intimate portrait or two.

Thank you. They do behave as though there's not a care in the world, but I wouldn't trust my luck in a close-up!
