I'm amazed that he even got the case heard let alone decided in his favor. I think the $345K is excessive and generally when an officer tells you to leave , you need to obey him even if he is wrong. There may have been other physical & verbal abuses committed against the photographer that this article doesn't address and that is probably a more likely scenario than what I am reading here.
Police tend to become belligerent when you argue with them and they're going to be RIGHT no matter What and he rest is hot air rising.

Yes they like to use their " power ". It took only 6 of Spokane's (Wash), finest to beat up and kill a retarded guy a few years back. They finally got the ring leader a 6 or 8 year sentence. The guy was minding his own business in a c store when they gang banged him into compliance. Got to love 'em one and all.

That is such a gross biased blanket characterization.

There are laws on the books in most states that are entitled, “failure to obey a police officer”. So no matter what the police offices orders are you must obey. Unless of course it will put you or so,some else in danger. So there is no point in arguing. When you are told to do something or not to do something by a police officer you don’t know the reason or rational behind the reasoning that he gave the order not is he required to explain. So bottom line is just do what he or she says. Is a picture really worth it. Well I guess for this person it was but over all you are going to loose. Oh yeah, I was a police officer for 20years.

Exactly. You obey the officer and fight the wrong in court. I have operated on both sides of the law in my many years. Even in my youth before I became civilized I obeyed the officers and if they were wrong had my lawyer explain it in court. The problem now days is no one respects the officers and think the street is the courtroom. Wrong answer.

A wise man taught me there are only two things to say when
confronted by police officer: "Yes sir" and "No sir."

It's a Free Country Murray.... So go ahead and argue & fight with the Police and see how that goes for you. We settle our differences in courts and not the streets. Unless you're a wild animal.....?

Good luck with that one.

I apologize to anyone who mistook my post 3 days earlier. My intentions were not to side with the police nor the photographer and only to point out the futility in all of that behavior . The only folks who do well in these things are the Courts & the Lawyers and everybody else suffers directly or indirectly as a result.
There are better ways to resolve these things as I mentioned above.

Be kind America...please.

Thanks

So...you are saying police officers are above the love. Obey them no matter what, even when you have done nothing wrong? If an officer comes to my door and demands to come...obey him. If he demands to search my property without a warrant...obey him. I don't think so.
