I like to do candid shots. Over the years I learned to do misdirects and slight of hand. Especially after getting screamed at and chased. I carry a small Nikon super zoom palmed in one hand with the little strap around the wrist.
Here’s a shot of an interesting guy about 50’ away on a bench.
I do candid Street photography like you and I really like this shot.
Thanks. Yes, for what I like to shoot candid is best. And nobody likes to experience that invasive feeling while out in public. So for the sake of others feelings I will be discreet in my approach. Besides, you get the best shots that way. People being natural.
"Street" shooting:
1. Camera: make, model, irrelevant. ISO: adjustable...800,1200,1600 is good....higher if you must! Pre-set modes may be helpful/instructive! Auto white balance:You don't want to be fiddling with things, especially in dim light. AF-S. Full Auto...Meh!
2. Lens FX or Dx...50mm f/1.8, any other lens with f/2.0-2.8 max. aperture will be good.
3.Unobtrusive...BIG Smile if/when you are discovered. Be quick!
4 Dress like the natives.
5. ENJOY!
