Excellent use of vanishing point perspective in the 1st, 3rd and last image...
I'm especially loving the color harmonies latent within the 3rd image...
a dream within a dream...
Beautifully done RichardTaylor

And wisely no identifiable individuals in this last series...

Moments:

Always be very alert for moments. I will have the camera in my hand (with the neck strap wrapped around my wrist) and turned on ready to go.

Some examples.

More to come and feel free to ask questions.

Moments 2:

Another alternative is to park yourself at a good location an watch events events unfold.
With this set I was waiting at a busy location in a large city whilst my wife was singing in a concert.
An older full frame camera with a good kit lens was used. Street furniture was used to support the camera for longer exposures.

Feel free to ask questions and more to come.

Keep up the good work dyximan.

If 36 exposure roll film that would be 4,444 rolls and a big hole in your pocket. Digital has freed us from the great expense of color film and processing. I recall taking spring flowers and spending $50 when $50 was a lot of money, perhaps $500 in today's world. The young in UHH do not appreciate the freedom that digital gives them like we who grew up with film do.

Eric Kim said in an article... "Nowadays I don’t shoot very much black and white film, but because black-and-white development in the states is so expensive (most places charge around $20/roll)"
https://petapixel.com/2015/03/23/i-had-164-rolls-of-film-processed-at-once-heres-how-i-do-it/

At that cost, $20 per roll, 160,000 clicks of B&W street photography would have cost dyximan $88,888... WOW

Well I am learning a little more about post Processing and how to keep the exposure a little closer to natural as I prefer underexposed but have learned I lose too many details better to be slightly over exposed and fix it I also have a tendency to bracket 4 to 5 stops And more sometimes

"...I'm just a curious and inquisitive kind of guy who likes to get his facts fiction and opinions from some of the hoggers on occasion..." Totally understand dyximan, thus the very reason I pointed you to the UHH "Street" Forum...

That said, please be keenly aware of the legal implication involved in taking photos of identifiable individuals without their explicit consent... btw, I'm just the messenger here and I'm not licensed to practice law in any jurisdiction... However I am somewhat aware of the limits of the first amendment in regard to photographing individuals in public space... And I'm very careful not to offend...

FYI: "As a form of expression, photography is protected in the U.S. by the First Amendment to the Constitution. But photographers are often forced to defend their right to take pictures (and record video) in public places. That has been especially true since the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the passage of the Patriot Act."

Times have changed dyximan... we no longer live in a age where newspapers, magazines and printed materials etc are a principle source of information dissemination...

Best Advice: Please review the ASMP's guide to Model Releases...
https://www.asmp.org/property-model-releases/
They may be germane to your endeavors...

Once again hope this helps or is at least food for thought...
I wish you well on your journey dyximan

Yes I understand to to a point the legal aspects of photography. And especially those that involve people and recognition, but my intent is for personal use only as I don't think I would ever sell any

I know what you mean about the cost I went to Europe once with 30 rolls of film and bought 10 or so when I was there that got pricey when I got home .
And I think I've simply learned that I can shoot as many as I want without regard to cost and maybe should concentrate a bit more on what I'm doing but sometimes I just I guess like to hear the click of a camera lol

I the olden days when I went to a motor racing day I allowed myself 3 rolls of 36 exposure transparency film. No autofocus and no zoom lenses.
Nowdays with good autofocus lenses on digital bodies I can consistently achieve results that I could only dream of in those long distant days.

Low light and indoors.

If you can use a tripod (long exposures) almost any camera will be fine.

The first examples was shot with a good P&S (Canon G11)
If you want to shoot hand held you will need fast (say f2 lenses)

Indoors, hand held it all depends on your camera body high ISO performance. Exanple (19&20) were shot at indoor classical music concerts.

---------------
Just a general comment: once I have learnt the basics, and that may take a while (practice) and sometimes spending some money (like lenses for sport and/or birds in flight) I never ever shoot away and hope for the best.

That's it.
