I just barely caught these from Galveston Island Texas before the cloud bank covered the sun for the rest of the day. Tamron 150-600mm set at 600mm.
You might have to expand the image to see Mercury at the 7 o-clock position.

Very nice images!

The Sun is massive in comparison to the tiny dot of Mercury in these images. But consider that the small planet is still 35 million miles from the Sun. It’s difficult to fathom the size of our Sun. And it is just a mediocre size star.

You're right. If you were able to put Mercury at the surface of the sun, we wouldn't be able to see it.
Most people never really try to comprehend these facts because there are too many important things to think about.
