If you think you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room.

A friend submitted an otherwise desirable collection of jpg photos to a non-profit archive only to have them rejected because of issues with jpg: The archive said that each time a jpg photo is opened, data is lost, with the final result the disappearance of the file. So the archive accepts no jpg materials. I'd never heard this before, but wonder!

They are bozos....! Complete nonsense....it's amazing how dis-information spreads so far and wide.

It's very simple. Open a jpg file, look at it, close it, no data loss. Open a file, look at it, save it, data is lost.

Data is lost only if the file is altered ie edited. When the changed pic (file) is closed it is compressed again, thereby losing data. A picture can be viewed an endless number of times and no data is lost if it is not changed.

It's on the internet, it MUST be true! /s

You know how things change from person to person, lets say, told from one person to another for 30 people in the room?
For some people, that alteration in facts happens with information traveling from the ears to the brain.
