Hello Bob,
Like Jay (below) stated.....try the park and ask people if you can take a photo. You'll be surprised. People are not as "non" responsive as you think. Also, take your time and look around. There are a lot of different aspects of it just being a non scenic park. I have found an ordinary rock with some plant life around it that turned out really awesome! I live in Nevada and believe me there are not a lot of opportunity for great photo ops as it is just desert. lol I hope you find this helpful, be well and count your blessings my friend! Post some photos for us! I, and I am sure everyone here would love to see what you come up with! Rae :)

Yes, for the same reasons - mobility & age - I am in your boat and can relate. I have not yet been banned from driving but its not far in the future. Good luck to you.

Hi Bob...check out a little pocket book on Amazon called Birds of North America. After you find the birds endemic to your area, have a friend go get tha seeds and type of bird feeder that will attract them and set up outside one of your windows. Read up on bird photography ..a fascinating hobby..while you're waiting for them to find you. It's absolutely miraculous how they do...especially in winter when theres no food around.

I have mobility issues although, I push myself daily and am up to most of a mile a day. I do have to use a cane. Due to health issues, I can't drive right now and, I don't have a vehicle.
We do have a municipal park, but it is more of a picnic spot and really isn't scenic.

My Dr. Has told me that most likely I'll be able to drive by Summer of 2020. While I'm happy about that, I hate car shopping. I'm not complaining, mind you, I just miss using my camera. I do thank God for the blessings I do have. Now, I just need to find a local Church that is like the one that I went to as a youngster. I think it's gonna be hard to find.

Anyway, I apologize for rambling on.

Bob

Sorry to hear of your issues, Bob. Push through - stay positive - things will get better.
You are in my thoughts.

What is the book about. I'm working on packing to move to a new home after the first of next year but I want to block off time to write and I seem to keep doing the "tomorrow, tomorrow thing" so good for you and maybe I'll join the writers world soon. good luck.

Hang in there. Things will get better. Life is a great journey with a few speed bumps, but one usually gets over them. You seem positive. Use that tool & you will prevail. Good luck.

Hi again Bob, My first post is on page 6 and is about doing still-life. I had to run to the store and didn't complete it. One of the fun and creative parts of still-life photography is you get to set the scene. That's additional to still taking the photo and any post work you might want to do. Setting the scene can be as simple or elaborate as you like. Lighting can be from cheap, clamp-on shop lights from Home Depot. You can reflect light using white poster board. Using 1" X 2" lumber and C-clamps you can set up a framing to hold it all. Back drops if needed can be almost anything appropriate, even enlargements from your existing photo collection. Example: Photographing a toy train, you might use an enlargement of a B&W train photo and then blur the background in the photo. I tried one last winter, "Antique Tools", and got help from a couple of Hogs to help me be more creative and get a much better result. I never posted the final set, as I had posted two intermediate stages. Maybe I'll post it this winter. There are a lot of Hogs that are really good at this that I'm sure will answer your questions and offer suggestions. Wishing you the best!

I have been where you are, but fortunately for shorter times. Could hardly wait to get out with camera in hand. The macro suggestion is a good one. I also would pick a subject, even a single tree and explore it for images from shots of the entire subject to various compositions and close-up photos. Good luck, hope you get out soon!

Hey Bob, sorry about your medical issues. I too have been in bad shape for the last 1.5 yrs. Several herniated discs. So painful to walk or do anything. Anyway, during this time, it has been hard to kneel down on the ground to photograph flowers in my yard. Couldn't walk any distance, etc. I'm much better now and ready to venture out and around town. I'm ready to start a creative adventure of using long exposure and converting to B/W. Looking forward to photography again with rejuvenated interest. Glad you are seeking a church from childhood memories. I prefer a small church, so easy to get to know everyone. Think happy thoughts. God Bless

In 1945, I was paralyzed for 2 years. I could only move my eyes and talk. I had to have everything done.
Most of my adult like I had great hair and the drugs given me caused my hair to fall out. My daughter traded one of her Llamas for a hospital bed. Then she hired a lady to come in everyday (except Sat. and Sun.). She cooked for me, feed me, exercised my limbs, read to me, talked with me and helped my day to by.. I was told I would die, no one every recovered. Well today I'm still here and I can walk, live alone and do most things (want walk very far, but can walk). I meditated 4 hours a day and visualized what I wanted my body to do. All 4 of my Dr.s are all dead and hear I am, moving and shaking, making money, being good most of the time and happy as a clam (how do we know clams are happy.) Anyway you get it. Most people never know about the dark part of my life and I appears normal. I mentally went within and visualized what I wanted my body to do, and after a couple of years, I moved to a wheel chair,
then crunches, then a walker, now nothing(slow but nothing). All the experts said I would never recovered
and this year I'm 75, 30 years ago, that 29.5 years longer than was considered possible, even my family, but not me. I'm active (mostly) and very content. Never, never give up, if you want to get well and live.

But I build a life for myself in a wheel chair and I would be happy still if I had never gotten out of the chair
But thankful I did. Focus on what you can do and love doing it. I'm happy and content every day, even on the days the world, frustrates me and I want to do bodily harm to the employees of many a store or phone people. My advice is worth exactly what you paid for it $0. But from one human to another, find a way to be happy, grow and prosper where you are planted and then love your flowers. Be thankful for everything
even finding your apartment keys. In my life, everything is a miracle every day, but I expect them, and just know they will show up, not always in the form I want. Don't just ask for love, the universe may send you a pregnant cat who delivers 12 kittens, now that is a bunch of love. Be as specific as you can. Sorry,
once I get fired up and ramble myself. Take care, I'll light a candle for you and send you good vibrations.
Brenda
